Dorothy Frances Vinagrettes
This personal project was inspired by my grandmother: of French ancestry, born in Minnesota, she traveled the world before landing in Chapel Hill, NC. She always loved cooking and ironically holds the recipe for the world’s best Italian dressing. When I was growing up, my family always joked about finding a way to sell the dressing. This project was my way of bringing that idea to life, visually speaking. Incorporating elements pulled from both French and Southern cultures, it embodies both sides of my grandmother’s heritage.
Using a combination of delicate, French-inspired typography and color and pattern to invoke feelings of southern charm, and soft matte gold embellishments, this system works seamlessly across a selection of dressings as well as print collateral, pictured below.
